Stirring the BIM tool pot

Archicad vs Revit, more like Archicad vs Logic & Reason!!!

Fluffy Kittens please forgive us. Put on your protective gear now... (Yes images & red text are links!!!) We only use "BIM model" to explain our points...
 Point 1) <played in G minor>
Archicad kills fluffy kittens wantonly
RFC was sent a link showing how Archicad's own press release states "...BIM Model within Archicad..." Ugh, really, saying 'BIM model' in a release to people who know that term to be used in ignorance??? Is that is supposed to lend an air of professionalism? Because it doesn't.

And RFC knows a thing or two about both being professional, as well as being unprofessional!!! (We have been known to use a lot of swear words ;-)

Is saying 'BIM model' a minor thing? We think not. But hey, we are just sticklers for the truth...and syntax.

Dear Archicad,
The word Model is part of the fucking acronym BIM.
ATM also has the word machine in it, so keep that in mind as well, so as not to sound (more) like idiots, while you drag your programming knuckles into the present.

-Signed RFC Check :-)

Point 2) <played in F major>
Are BIM authoring tools Multicore & Multithreaded?
Revit is much more than Archicad!!!

Here's Archicad's idea of multi-threaded support:

1) Self explanatory, since Archicad can't seem to take advantage of multi-cores too well.
2) Wait, doesn't it say multi-processing helps? Why then spin it to say it doesn't...
3) Oh, because marketing can't tell the plain truth: Archicad is too lazy(?) to program for it.

Well after their underwhelming list of only 8 things that AC does utilize multi-threading for let's compare, shall we? We shall!

WOW, AC uses multicores to place a PDF... Big fucking deal.

How many times can they list saving as separate items??? Looks like 3!!!

Managing Autosave? They actually say that "Managing" autosave needs multi-processing??? Yikes.

Now we know Revit doesn't autosave but that is something that we don't want... With worksharing it is much more important to be mindful and intentional about what and when to save, so hold your water ArchiHaters.

OH AND ANOTHER FUN ONE: Graphics Processor Units (GPU) are not the same as Central Processing Units (CPU) so please remove that from the list of multicore processing. Archicad's bullshit marketing spin only obfuscates knowledge & intelligence for people who are really looking the truth.

Here's Autodesk & Revit's idea of multi-threaded support:
Now that list only has one more item (9) BUT the actual items that are listed are much more effective and powerful, when compared to the other BIM Authoring Tools!!!

Not much to say about the Revit list...while it is always getting better, we find Revit Multi-Processes the best.

NOBODY READ THIS POST PLEASE!!! Revit LT: Learning & Training, LiTe or Losing Talent

<Edit 09/07/2012> #7 has been edited to reflect the info found in the comment's section of this post.
USE RevitLT AT YOUR OWN RISK, USE BUILDING DESIGN SUITE INSTEAD!!!
WHY??? YOU LOVE AEC AND WANT TO BE GREAT!!!

Dear RevitLT,
Please understand these are just thoughts and while they speak to what we feel a hamstrung version of Revit is: a mistake for AEC; they are just thoughts and are intended to help in some small way. Good luck, no matter our take.

FWIW: AEC needs more functionality in Revit itself, so to dedicate precious resources to create and support RevitLT, especially when you have cut thousands of jobs recently is a bit odd, in RFC's opinion. Perhaps you have numbers to support good sales figures, so WhoTF are we to judge :-)

Now, we're not shareholders and we guess you must worry more about profits than people at times...but remember, even the small firms you say you are helping with this offering are people too and unless they only do Strip-mall-chitecture then UH OH!!!

In other words, we respectfully disagree with the need for such a seeming piece of shit software!!! That's what SketchUp is for!!!

-Signed Revit Fact Check (AKA: Revit Users who actually say what others only think)

Check below the following embedded PDF for a review of the comparison (as if one truly exists) :-)
Revit LT ADSK Comparison
  • RevitLT is out (Yaay???) and has but 17 less major functionalities, when compared to full Revit. Not much you say? Good luck with that!!!
  • Here at Revit Fact Check we think that some of these 17 make it a deal breaker, as we'll explain below, but first a word from this ADSK PRESS RELEASE:
“Autodesk Revit LT reflects our commitment to provide architects, designers and building professionals, particularly those in small firms, the tools they need to ease the transition to get started with - and take advantage of - a BIM workflow,”

Ease the transition? "They" can say so, but if you do anything of value we have 2 reasons NOT to go near Revit LT and while the following may sound harsh, it's true for most everyone (if not everyone) in AEC, whether small or large!!!
  • If you cannot afford the tools of your trade get another trade.
  • The lacking functionality of Revit LT will just make the inevitable purchase of full Revit take that much longer. But who are we to say how late you should be to real productivity, better projects and all that true BIM has to offer...
  • With it taking one or more years to become fully adept at BIM we like those who wait...we can take more of their work, so maybe we should just shut up!!!
  • Well, We would shut up if we truly didn't want to help AEC that is!!!
Here's a look at and then a brief comment about each numbered 'functionality loss' from the PDF above, as Revit Fact Check sees it: Viewer Discretion Advised!!! -We say that because the images allude to what you won't get with RevitLT and it might be upsetting to some viewers!!!

1) Construction Modeling-Parts and Assemblies
  • I thought that "Building Professionals" need professional building tools... wasn't that why these were put into Revit in the first place? To fill a void for contractors & other "Building Professionals...
  • This one may not be a 'huge' deal though, unless of course you like to believe that a model should represent what is being...uhhh... modeled. Hmmm...
  • Maybe the thought is that small firms are too daft to use assemblies, or maybe the thought is they are not needed... either way this holds as a good selling point; just NOT for RevitLT.

2) Stair by Sketch
  • Really RevitLT; No custom shaped stairs by sketch??? Aaaahahahahaha!!!
  • Designers love to be locked into tools that have next to no usefulness for the work they actually do, day to day.
  • Why not just remove the "save" button while you're at it ;-)
  • We hope you RevitLT users only do stairs that have no need to be other than simple, with little to no ability to adapt to... oh what do they call it?... OH YEAH... DESIGN, SHAPE, etc.!!!
  • These LT folks really know how to sell full Revit!!! Make a third rate LT grade software and let people call it 'light' and think they can be productive & efficient with it.Then buy the full app!!!
  • The extra cost of full Revit is paid for in ROI within the first project, unless that project is a simple dog-house perhaps.

3) Truss and Reinforcement
  • Excuse the language but this is a fucking joke!!!
  • Helping AEC get into "a BIM workflow" by not allowing some of the most basic structural content?
  • Again, we hope any Revit LT users never need their buildings to stand up, or never know how they will look... "Rebar and Trusses are so last year" perhaps...
  • Yeah, when I was with a small firm we never needed Trusses.
  • Oh Wait, that's a lie!!!

4) Conceptual Massing, Adaptive Components
  • Oh My Fucking God
  • Not having Massing & AC's may be the biggest reason RevitLT a terrible idea to us!!!
  • Small firms never do any creative work, so why have these necessary tools, right RevitLT?
  • No buildings other than rectilinear we guess.
  • Good thing "architects, designers and building professionals, particularly those in small firms" don't want to compete for good projects or make buildings anything but square (or the like)... You could do round but let's see a twisting shape or tilted walls...
  • Who needs to conceptualize a building early on and get environmental & structural analysis??? We hope not you RevitLT users. (more on this later too)
5)  In-Place Modeling
  • A "for instance"...Any "small" firms ever do walls that might be free-standing & be segmented & have custom openings? No soup for you!!! Unless or until you become a modeling master.
  • In-place models can be handy in the Design process, especially in fast, 'down-& dirty' situations. Get ready to learn the Family Editor (not a bad thing though ;-)
  • Now there are those who try not to use in-place modeling but the fact remains that sometimes it IS necessary (read as: necessary), so this too keeps RevitLT users bound to unnecessary struggle and frustration, productivity loss (even weighed against Acad -we think).
  • AND THAT IS NOT TO SAY THAT Acad IS ANY GOOD AT PRODUCTIVITY, COMPARED TO Revit!!!
6) Photo-realistic Rendering in the Project
  • What small (or large) firm needs easy rendering at their fingertips???
  • No more needs to be said about this, other than: Good luck learning more apps. LOL
7) Ray Trace

  • Ray Trace? Unless these small firms have super good computers this is no issue at all. Ray trace is so slow at this time on "the average" computer that it probably won't be a big loss... for now.
<Edit 09/07/2012>Well...
  • Realistic View Styles WILL NOT be removed & this is awesome for RevitLT users so if you do get RevitLT then surely use this!!! <Edit 09/07/2012>
8) Interference Check
  • Every small firm are especially in need of the ability to coordinate better. Not having interference checking will keep AEC-LT users thinking they are creating BIM but they'll be sadly mistaken in a holistic sense. Plus their models will be some of the worst out here.
  • 'Hope they want to find out those beams are slamming through plumbing (etc.) members in the field... That's the point of using CAD drafting programs: to keep projects inefficient and too expensive, with time and money thrown away!!! Why introduce that to BIM??? WHY???
9) Copy/Monitor
  • Not having linked models automatically track the changes between disciplines' components is pure awesomeness...Oh wait, it isn't...this should keep people groping for the full Revit!
10) Worksharing (Multi-User environment)
  • Say goodbye to the Worksharing concept, image @ the right. None of this (or more) for the LT user
  • The first project I did in Revit I worked all alone AND STILL USED WORKSETS!!!
  • Say goodbye to collaborative work, efficiency, sophisticated organization and peace of mind!!!
11) Copy/Paste Elements from Links
  • Sure, small firms looking to boost productivity NEVER copy from a linked file...It's surely better for them to have to open both models up and overburden their (probably) unacceptable computer.
12) Customize the Visibility of Linked Models
  • LO-Fucking-L RevitLT!!! You really think that this won't piss every RevitLT user off??? Better get those apology letters handy!!!
  • No Architect or Engineer EVER needs to adjust what is seen and how it's seen in others' linked model... This one is a prize winner!!!
13, 14) Point Cloud, Decal
  • Maybe if no one reads all the marketing materials about how key point clouds are to BIM maybe no one will notice how limiting this missing functionality will be...Shhhh, we'll keep quiet ;-) Oh wait, that was not quiet: sorry.
  • Decals are great for rendering & those Realistic Views...OH SORRY, Those are already not available in RevitLT -Mwahahaha
  • Benefits to this is you can keep those old airbrushes going!!!
15) SAT, ADSK, gbXML, IFC, ODBC & Family Types
  • Seems there is a thought that small firms don't need to export to others in any meaningful ways.
  • No manufacturing, databases, etc...well at least it'll have .dwg export LOLOLOLOL
  • Family Type Exports are really only good if one wants to capture objects from models and re-use or re-purpose them more efficiently. Say in Component Libraries...
16) ADSK 360 Energy Analysis
  • Small firms do not need to make "informed Decisions" -Inference for purchasers of RevitLT
  • It appears that the promise of BIM will not be televised for RevitLT users... Keep making wasteful buildings, you don't deserve grown-up tools if you buy RevitLT anyhow!!!
17) Third-Party Application Programming Interface (API)
Why the fuck not allow anyone to customize RevitLT, that would make them keep from buying the full Revit...

OMFG JUST BUY REVIT AND FORGET LT...
IF NOT, THEN PLEASE DON'T SAY YOU WEREN'T WARNED!!!

Catia Lovers Loving The Revit Cow? We think so

At the recent USCArchitecture Practical BIM 2012 symposium, Revit Fact Check overheard a conversation (as well as Jay Zallan's mention of the exchange) between Marcello Sgambelluri, Jay Zallan & 2 Catia experts...

These Catia folks searched out Marcello; who created The Revit Cow...

...since they heard about it and wanted to see if Revit could "really" model complex and organic geometry.

Well, after speaking to Marcello & Jay, as well as hearing J mention that "She IS made of real walls" in a brief comment about The Los Angeles Revit Users Group, that Douglas Noble of USC asked him to provide...

Well, we're glad we could be there to witness that and with a slight smirk and a knowing "I told you so" Revit Fact Check says...

Which is better Driving to work or a Car?: Sometimes BIM simply means Bimbo

If you want some good laughs read a few of the comments on Revit Forum dot Org's posting that made us laugh (click the image below)..."Which is better BIM or Revit?" Oh NOooooooo please say you don't do Architecture ...pleeeeeease. the person who posted has got to be a comedian!!! Right???

Well, anyway; way too many funny retorts come up, but RevitFactCheck thinks that the original question is perhaps one of the funniest possible questions we have seen since...well a long time... and it shows such a profoundly deep lack of understanding that there can be no more laughable a posit.

OH!!! and if you ever use the 'company'(?) that asked that question we wish you luck and... If you ask which is better #BIM or #Revit then may @RevitFactCheck suggest a mechanic who asks: Which is better Driving to work or a Car?

We are still looking for Revit users in the Arctic... Anyone???... Beautiful here nonetheless...

More Ignorance, Less Benefit

We caught this Tweet by Graham Stewart (no connection to Revit Fact Check) and RFC | BFC checked it out for ourselves and agree... It's awful.

The article written by a "person?" that calls themselves: Revit Master... LOFuckingL that's the worst name for a person who doesn't seem to know Revit very well... How about "Revit Disaster"?

Anyhow: the person or people who wrote the blog post fail in even basic attempts at journalism, provide no good help and seem to have no idea how ignorant their comparison is...

A comparison that is not "one-to-one" or "apples-to-apples" is a waste of time.

Shy of comparing each feature, in true relation to the job (the total job) of producing an AEC project, from within each platform; articles like this are either ignored by those who are truly informed or worse are used by those that do not know of what they speak to bolster their own ignorant dribbling.

To each there own, but really???!!! Comparing software 5 years or so apart??? Even with their mentioning that little fact, the resulting post is so useless (in our opinion) that we don't even wish to continue checking it's facts.

The Truth Is The Truth: Known or Otherwise

Take heart DL you are still the first and probably the best to post the "What's New in Revit" every year (legally); and if this means anything you are our favorite!!! We look forward to your hard work and appreciate it immensely.

So looks like someone ('fla') may have lied to J so we decided to try to put the NDA breakage to bed for him at least...

We got an anonymous tip regarding the recent NDA breach by a certain ex-reseller (let's call him 'fla'), unfortunately the comment was for a (now removed) Fear and Loathing In a CAD vs. BIM World posting, so we couldn't get the exact, original quote but we have it on J's authority that the following is what was presented to him: ...he emailed and said he had been on the Alpha but not on the Beta...

Meaning; if this is true; there must have been an NDA at some point for 'fla': either way there was no integrity in 'fla' releasing documents that were known to be proprietary and secret in nature and not for distribution at the very least; J told us.

Is that comment about 'fla' being on the testing program the Truth? No real way for us to verify on our budget of $0.00 but through conversations and comments throughout the industry, we believe we have done enough digging into fla's past behavior and have also heard a big silence from 'the man' which, we believe makes @RevitFactCheck feel comfortable to construe that Attorneys are most likely looking into the matter now and we can all get on with life and ostracize the man ('fla') who brings embarrassment to himself. Maybe 'fla' will learn how to write something other than love letters and not simply copy/paste from ill-gotten documentation...just to be first... Well in this case fla's first is worst.

Perhaps some huge technology company will use parts of their budget to do digital forensics and find out exactly when 'fla' did what: but suffice to say we believe J's original post was spot on and DL's headache should all be alleviated now!

Haters Keep on Hating, Ignorant keep Digressing

Not Funny: Hate Stems From Ignorance
Funny: When you search "Revit hate 2012" you find ignorance.

When you get to the RevitHate site you will find most of the haters think Revit is a shitty drafting program...Joke's on them...Revit was never intended to draft in!!! It's a fucking Building Information Modeling software you geniuses. Except for the flatness of printed sheets (though ink has thickness, so that's even arguable), it's all 3D!!! 3D Model (Visual), 3D data, 3D Creativity.

If you cannot handle the necessary change in AEC' needs, attitude and process reconfiguration due to ever evolving BIM/IPD technological & informational/educational capabilities & possibilities then go sell insurance. Drafting is needed to learn how to draw... BIM is needed to keep (or better yet: GET) AEC out of the wasteful past & present it finds itself in...

Give Me An "L"

Give Me An "O"

Give Me An "S"

Give Me An "E"

Give Me An "R"

What's that spell?

<Insert Drafting Software of Choice Here (Oh, & Your Name if you would rather produce AEC in 2D!!!>

Here's to going back to the stone age too!!!

Rebutting Revit Hate 1: BIMposters & Revit Haters Better Get Their Facts Straight Before Whinging Like Ignorant Babies

First off, if you are sensitive to graphic language then please stop reading immediately. This is a personal posting for Tomahawk4196, RevitFacts and all other Revit haters and BIMposters and it is not meant for anyone else to read. ; )

This post will quickly get very mean, sarcastic, graphic, personal and is meant as a general attack... It is an attack on ignorance and misinformation and those few who propagate the like in the world of BIM, specifically toward Revit.

Q: Why do we do this???
A: We want to help AEC, BIM, IPD, etc. not hurt them!!!

The "Revit flaws" below, in black were copied verbatim from one of the most Re
vit hate focused sites. Some of the posters (posers) are ArchiCAD users who need to create misinformation to bolster their software choices, others are simply CAD drafters who want to go back to the horse & buggy while others are hiding even more.

In an effort to distinguish the truth from fact we will provide responses to each item and we can all make up our own minds... My responses will be either blue or grey or
orange (TG)...
Don't get me wrong; I do feel there are ways that Revit might improve, it's just that there are ways to get that accomplished and presenting lies as if they are truths is not the way to affect positive change. So with that said; here we go...
Revit flaws: AKA: "Things that expose Revit haters as being misinformed, shortsighted idiots.

1. Cannot import Word files. a) Is Copy/Paste is so difficult for you? b) It also can't import Cuban Cigars.

2. Cannot import Excel files. a) Uhhh Yes, there are tools for that! OMG!!!

3. Lacks AutoCAPS. OK, but your fucking keyboard has ALL CAPS, you bloody idiot. Oh, it also lacks electroshock... you should look into that.

4. Lacks ability to associate text with phases. a) Views are phase specific and so is text so technically you are incorrect. A view can only show one phase at a time, so the text therein is, by placement, part of that view, whatever phase it shows... b) Text isn't associated to anything; that's why the people who create the best BIM projects do not use text too much; they use the actual meta-data of the model and combine Tags & Keynotes predominantly. -Would you like the name of a good Psychiatrist???

5. Lacks ability to associate text with levels. a) Uhh what about the level name; isn't that text? I mean, I type something there :-) b) It doesn't associate text with stupidity either: sucks for you. c) Why the fuck is this functionality even a consideration??? d) Text is dumb and shouldn't be used if there is a better workflow: Tags/Keynotes are associated to objects & meta-data and that is much more powerful than dumb text: except to novelists; but that's not a sanctioned Revit or BIM task anyhow.

6. Lacks ability to associate text with worksets. a) Nor should it!!! b) Again you found a useless task that Revit won't do...Good job. How about Revit won't associate text to my imagination? Just like you don't associate your name to your gutless, hateful posts Tomahawk4196. - Text and other annotation is contained within the view's workset. Every view automatically creates a workset for itself when the view is created. You don't see it by default when you view worksets, but there is a check box to see "view" based worksets. So, your text is in a workset which is the same as the view name.
7. Lacks ability to change case of selected text. WRONG. There are several tools that can do exactly that (click image left for one). b) Your car cannot change it's own tires so you should sell it (assuming you can drive). - A lot of companies are moving away from all CAPS for text. Its an old convention based on hand drawings that isn't needed anymore to keep text consistent. Time to get up to date with modern practices.
8. Text box cannot have fixed width. OMG step away from over using text tool... There are many methods of getting fixed width text & information: some people (that would rather get work done instead of crying), use Key Schedules if they 'really' need to force a fixed width or even mimic tabular input. c) Revit is a BIM authoring tool, not a text editor... the straight edge of text does not make a project better or worse. Yes we'd like it but it's not as pressing as good modeling, good Design & Coordination, etc.

9. Text box changes width when it is clicked – without prompting. And how does that stop you from working? Oh, that is no longer an issue, it was a temporary bug.

10. Cannot have polygonal views, only rectangular. Yeah, we can't have round sheets either; damn standard business practices. FYI: I used to hand-draw and then CAD draw and let me tell you: having irregular view shapes DOES NOT hinder my ability to do work nor does that limit the fact that we can still make Revit/BIM sets look better than any CAD set ever could... Although the information may appear in a rectangular view it is much more useful & correct than CAD drafted sets... but I don't figure you care much about good projects, data fidelity, coordination, etc. -Would we use them? Yes but again it's not mandatory for good projects. - You can use the masking region tool to hide parts of the view giving you a non-rectangular look.

11. Pipe reducers do not show up in plan view. That's a "you" thing Tomahawk: they work for us!!! I bet you are using the wrong template to start with.
12. No ortho mode, and we can’t program F8 to be ‘constrain’. a) I guess the "Constrain" check-box is too difficult for you to use with your superior outlook and all? b) Ortho mode is crap in AutoCAD, to anyone who knows how to draw (or use a computer) proficiently; plus anyone who learns & grows with the advent of better tools gave Ortho up long ago... Sorry everyone; IMO: Ortho mode is for people who can't draw very well or haven't learned how to use dynamic snaps -that were invented nearly a decade ago to replace the dire limitation of simply X & Y. - Revit has a different way of invoking ortho mode than AutoCAD. Hold down SHIFT and you can only go horizontal and vertical. It even says this in the SNAPS dialog.

13. View filter ‘rules’ have no ‘or’ operator. By definition they actually do you fucking idiot!!! Filters setup choices and a choice between multiple variables IS by their pure existence either a "this" OR "that" choice I'll be simpler for you: on OR off... like your intellect...Off - For OR filters you just create a second filter. Not the best way, but it does allow OR.
WOW!!! I didn't think this would be so fun and enlightening!!! I hope you Revit haters are getting all of this down, because none of these complaints are as of yet valid flaws!!! To (kinda) quote Shaquille O'Neal: Hey (Revit Haters), "Tell Me How My Ass Tastes" -Yeah, if you watch that video you need to replace "Kobe" with "Revit Haters" but you get my point... Sorry Kobe; I dig your game and think you're one of the greatest but the video gets my feelings across to the haters to some degree... no disrespect intended GO LAKE SHOW :-)

14. Labels (pipe and duct) and text do not recognize each other, so they cannot line up. Because they had a bad argument and had to breakup... I guess your eyeballs are just not good enough to do this task themselves? Whatever... I call non-issue, due to impossible to read everyone's mind & desires.

15. Lacks ability to associate labels with phases. Uhhh what??? Labels are parameters of families that can live in any phase, it's up to the project & object's placement that dictates phase... Phase is a function of a project & view's state, so this one is as it should be ...We wish there was an association to you and comprehension or at least reality.

16. Lacks ability to associate labels with levels. Seriously you need education, imagination & creativity upgrades: a) A Level's Name is it's fucking label!!! -just like you: "Extremely Ignorant" can be your label now. b) to reiterate a label is part of a family and levels do not need that but hey, who am I? I have only been in AEC since 1982 and have used Revit since 2001... Shut up!!! I don't look as old as I actually am!!!

17. Lacks ability to associate labels with worksets. Because Labels are still part of Revit Families & worksets are neither families nor model or annotation objects. -Worksets are not physical objects in the building model, therefore there is nothing to 'label'. WS's are project specific and what label is needed to be associated with them anyhow??? Tell us that. - See #6 above, labels are annotation which like text are contained on the view's workset.
18. Entities cannot be ‘locked’ from being selected. YAAY!!! That's how it should be!!! Technically Design Options can limit that ability but that's not useful or recommended to do. There is no real reason an object wouldn't want to be selectable; that goes against everything in reality... If an object isn't selectable it can never be modified, deleted, etc. This really shows a new, profound level of your misguidance and whinging. - You can lock entities a few ways, worksets/design options/groups/pins. Sure they may be work arounds, but they all work effectively. For instance, put your grid lines in its own option and then check the option of "Exclude Options" and you won't select the grid lines when using a selection window.

19. Lacks ability to ‘set level’ during creation of entities. WRONG AGAIN a) Walls (and more) have that ability, you dunce. b) Objects will typically go onto the level one is working on, so it's still there. c) That would kill flexibility, creativity and efficiency. -Oh wait... I get it: let's make components be specific to levels, so I have to create objects with infinite possibilities based on levels...great idea... NOT. - All model objects in Revit require a reference level. Thus, they have a parameter called "Reference Level". It might not always be available to all objects at creation time, but by default, the objects will be created on the current view's reference level. If you want to change it from the view's reference level use the tool "Set Work Plane" to set a different level as the current level you want objects to be placed on.

20. Dimensions cannot be moved, have to be re-drawn. Completely incorrect yet again. a) One can re-associate dimension leaders to other objects after placement (sounds a lot like moving to me). b) Dimensions are object specific so just move the object and the dimension moves (like magic) you brain-trust.

21. Dimensions work poorly, in general. Dimensions work poorly unless you know what you are doing that is!!! If you know anything about how and what need dimensioning then they work fantastically well!!! -What was that??? being able to dimension an entire section of wall for instance, including every opening and adjoining wall doesn't prove them to be working well in your opinion??? Then your opinions are fucking absurd!!! Remember what opinions are like? They are like assholes... everyone has one and they usually stink like shit.

22. Lacks ability to ‘lock’ the visibility controls in a view. They are locked if you use your brain: just don't change them and you'll be fine. Do you also want to lock your car and throw away the keys??? - Use view templates to setup how you want your view settings to always be. If something has changed in your view settings, re-apply the view template to get it back to your preset settings.

23. ‘Match properties’ is a bad joke. Huh??? Oh I get it: You and a #BIMmodelingFluffyKitten walk into a bar... you order arsenic... the #BIMmodelingFluffyKitten orders a shot of tequila and a Guinness... the bartender suggests you use the match types tool so you don't die. -I know that may not be funny but your ignorance makes us laugh enough already... BTW: the Match Types tool works quite nicely, thank you very much!!!
24. Vertical pipe often drops down to -200’ or some other random number. We can't seem to recreate that 'flaw' here... Nor can other RMEP folks... That appears to be a "you" thing once again.
25. Many families have an unknown, invisible perimeter of selection. No they don't you dipshit; you just don't know what the fuck is happening at all... Families in Revit are selectable along their edges and align-able via reference planes & reference lines that are in the family; this is by design and these lines & planes are setup by the content creators to do so or not, by choice... they are neither unknown, nor invisible.
26. When drawn, section depth extents are often the length of the building. That's right!!! This is not a problem and whenever desired it's easily changed. I bet you'd complain if they only had a truncated depth: you'd probably say "Waaaahaaa Sections do not extend the depth of the entire building by default"... BTW: truncated means "discarding the least significant things" and we wish we could truncate your ignorance, stupidity and misguided vitriol.
27. Sections cannot be assigned to worksets. Wrong yet again (see image left yet again). Once worksets are invoked everything (read as EVERYTHING) that's an object has a workset of one kind or another!!! Now you can't do anything about changing the WS but who the fuck wants to??? Because sections are views, they create their own worksets named the same as the section.
28. Sections cannot automatically adopt view filters from parent plan view. Right. Filters are view independent... It's easy enough to create a View Template that only pushes the view filters around and since that gives ultimate flexibility and only takes a few seconds I again say shut the fuck up about meaningless bullshit that most people don't want anyhow. Oh wait, Revit should be tailored to you personally, not the industry; sorry, I forgot.

29. In the Properties dialog box, the left column does not stay a fixed width. Now this one really baffles me because mine stays where I leave it... Maybe some co-worker is fucking with you because you are seem like such an asshole... I wonder if I know you HAHAHAHA; I probably do... Maybe you are me??? Naaa.

30. Maximized Revit will not minimize during synchronization, effectively blocking access to the Desktop. a) Yes it will if you use ALT+TAB, but you'd have to know something about computers & software to do that... b) Get a second monitor you ignorant motherfucker. Also what do you want to do while most of your processors are busy working anyhow??? Step away from the porn, at least while Revit saves your work... Better yet Tomahawkie just hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and then kill the process titled "Revit.exe" and if you do this while it's saving your work you will find that all of your Revit issues will magically go away.

31. When opening a file from Revit, the DATE column is not DATE MODIFIED. Either you are just fucking with everyone, your OS has been messed with or the Mayan's are correct. Naaa, I think you are truly an imbecile!!!

32. Opening a dependent view does not Zoom Extents, often resulting in nothing being visible on screen. Only if you had nothing on-screen in the originating view. Revit opens the dependent view as it was when created... which was set to the zoom factor you set it to, so go bitch & moan to yourself for being such a dim wit.

I have to take a break, I am actually getting tired of being mean... What is the world coming to???

More to follow soon but I think you get the point so far!!!... If anyone wants to contribute please let us know via twitter or email: @RevitFactCheck or RevitFactCheck -at- hotmail -dot- com
